South Carolina Historical and Genealogical Magazine was published quarterly (January, April, July and October). These parish records were published in serial version in eleven issues (Oct 1911- April 1914). They include births/baptisms and burials.
This CD includes the eleven complete magazine editions, including the St. Andrews Parish registers for 1719-1774.
St. Andrew's Parish was created in
1706 as an original parish from the southwest part of Berkeley (1682-1768) County. It is the oldest church building still in use in South Carolina.
Berkeley County was established in 1682. It was named after John and William Berkeley, co-owners of the Province of Carolina. It became part of the Charleston District in 1769. It did not exist as a District during most of the 19th Century. It was again established as a county in 1882, with its seat at Mount Pleasant. The county seat was moved in 1895 to Moncks Corner.
