“The following wills have been abstracted from the
Wicomico
County
Register of Wills documents . . . in the Maryland Hall of
Records. Wicomico county was established in 1867 out of the
Worcester
and
Somerset
Counties
. (
Salisbury
is the county seat).
We have attempted to abstract as much vital information as possible in order to facilitate the researcher in their quest. The
first date given refers to the date the will was written—the second date is that of the probate of the will. Following down,
are the various legatees and relationship (when mentioned) to the testator.
We have listed all bequests following the legatee's name and have done so by pulling all the information together. In many
of the
wills, the bequests are scattered about, so that our abstracts do not fully follow the exact order in which the will was written.
We have also included the tract names and the names of individuals —where mentioned —whose property lay adjacent
to
the testator's land.”
